Zanetti A look inside. Stories about the prison

Treviso - Many people, especially young people, attended Friday, October 8, the cinema hall in Aurora, the projection a documentary about the harsh and inhumane prison conditions in Argentina. Interesting also the long speech of the speaker, the journalist Luca Cardinalino , but it has affected the development of the debate with the audience. A documentary
bring a group of boys who in 2009 established a new and interesting cultural subject in the city of Treviso. A group that, along with Pedro Zardo I met in early October during a meeting in the local parish of the Immaculate Conception in Treviso. After watching the documentary I put some questions to one of the boys - Silvano Henry - who made the evening.

[ the audience in the cinema hall in Aurora Treviso ]

Henry I can briefly talk about your association ?
Our association is called "Cineforum maze" and was a little over a year ago. We have dealt with since the first survey of social issues, casting documentary on immigration and homosexuality. We believe that the documentary is the best way to talk about certain subjects, is very striking and helps to focus in a short time the main nodes of the matter. We have always tried to engage a young audience as possible, and to organize our reviews we often made use of the aid of some school children.

Why did you decide to screen a documentary on the reality Argentine prison ? The Argentine documentary
there happened to your hand a month ago. We were very impressed. We already knew "The hour of love," the documentary that will project Friday, October 15. We thought so to do a little show with these two films, we are interested in this subject and we soon realized they did not know many things, however, it is the duty of every citizen to know. We tried the contacts of those working in prison to tell us about their experiences. The stories they told us we have first-hand what it means to live in prison. It 'was a step in the preparation of the exhibition very interesting and engaging.

Non ho gli elementi to say we could do otherwise, these sufferings can be avoided. I will just see how I felt in the stories that have been made: there are families torn apart by the prison, the relationships between fathers and sons irretrievably altered. The same transfer themselves are very tramautici: Change the place of detention often means starting from scratch each time, losing each landmark and each time try to be accepted by new people: some people at some point lost the desire to do this and you leave to go to himself, we were told that each transfer the detainees can not even bring the contacts of the older inmates.

The documentary is also presented the story of a man who, as a boy, was put in jail because he tried to steal the cows. And in jail - to avoid harassment by other inmates - has become a murderess ...
What did you tell the story of Ramon, the man himself in a later part of the documentary says that the jail often becomes a "school of crime": an inmate inside the prison can easily find the contact who is willing to include any type of traffic, or provide any kind of weapons or drugs. This issue was also raised by Fr Peter Zardo in quick conversation we had with him inside the prison they tend to return to the same topics, such as drug addicts, do not tell that continuously like a broken record of the ways in which source the drug.

What do you think of sanitary conditions in prisons Argentine ?
Well there is no doubt shudder. Even here in Italy but the situation does not seem to be much better: finding a latrine for six to seven people placed in the same room of the cell we were told not to be a rarity. Living in an environment like this, certainly does not help.

the screening of the documentary have recorded a great number of visitors, especially by young people. How do you explain this participation ? How
I said before, we mobilized a lot in schools, many students have also helped in the preparation of the evening, as well as in promoting the event: the documentary that we proposed last March, some students of the Institutes "Mazzotti" and "Canova" have translated and wrote all the subtitles were missing, it is an Argentinean documentary ever screened in Italy. This time the group Start, which already had treated a number of events in high school, "Canova", he was involved in setting up the theater, did a great job in my opinion we can not thank them very much.
